Crime Scene Technician's Course

At the conclusion of this five day program, the student will have an understanding of crime scene preservation and the role of forensic science in law enforcement. Additionally, the student will become adept at learning the concepts and procedures of crime scene photography. Criminal Interdiction Training - Identifying Transnational Organised Crime and Terrorism

This course is designed to provide the law enforcement officer with a comprehensive perspective of the criminal activities, techniques, and potential threats associated to Transnational Organized Crime and Global Terrorism. The law enforcement officer will gain an understanding of criminal indicators, smuggling trends and techniques which are utilized by criminal organizations/gangs, smuggling networks and terror operatives. The course further illustrates how organized crime syndicates and terrorists exploit various private sector companies within the transportation industry. Crisis Negotiations

This is a five day course, taught by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, designed to familiarize police officers with the current doctrine and theory of successful negotiations with individuals who are suicidal or in crisis, as well as criminal, mentally deranged and fanatic hostage takers. Instruction stresses the goal of preserving all lives concerned and emphasizes both psychological theory and a practical "how to" approach in dealing with the hostage taker. Critical Incident & Stress In Law Enforcement

This two-day program is appropriate for all supervisors, managers, law enforcement officers, public safety personnel and chaplains. Attendees will be briefed as to the cause, effect, signs and symptoms of the most common and current law enforcement stress, especially critical incident. Traumatic stress. Attendees will be introduced to, or reminded of practical responses and stress management strategies for peers, professionals, managers and leaders. Law Enforcement stress management and crisis leadership approaches will be discussed in a preventative posture, during a crisis and afterwards (including Death and Emergency Notification), all from a factual, anecdotal and motivational perspective. This 5-day (40 hours) agency instructor level certification program is designed for agencies to train and certify departmental instructors in managing deadly force options in correctional institutions. CSI - Fluids and Trace Evidence

TOPICS IN CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION: BODY FLUIDS AND TRACE EVIDENCE November 28-29, 2012 This is a two-day program with the first day devoted to body fluids and the second to trace evidence. The first program consider types of body fluids and how the investigator might collect and analyze these. Topics to be covered during this session include: (1) scientific basis of body fluid examination; (2) blood and bloodstains and their collection; (3) seminal stains; and (4) other types of fluids such as saliva, urine, and fecal matter. The second day provides discussion on such trace evidence elements as hair, textile fibers, paint chips, glass fragments, and gunshot residue particles. Topics in this segment include: (1) trace evidence associated with clothing; (2) recovery of the clothing of the victim; (3) cloth fragments and impressions; (4) threads; (5) fibers; (6) hair; (7) soils, rocks, and minerals; and debris.
