Concealed Compartments in Vehicles (Traps)

COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course is designed to give the law enforcement professional the necessary skills to recognize when a concealed compartment may be embedded in a conveyance, where the most probable locations are and how to access them. Topics include: • Introduction to Concealed Compartments • Sean Puffy Combs Case • Trap Categories and Indictors • Legality of Traps • 2 Door vs. 4 Door Vehicles • Videos showing Gun Traps w/Analysis • Videos showing Transport Traps, Vans and SUV Traps w/Analysis • Student Exercises –Find the Trap. INSTRUCTIONAL GOAL: Students will be taught to recognize where concealed compartments are commonly found in vehicles and be able to identify those indicators signifying a hidden compartment. They will also be able to evaluate the importance of asking questions of suspects to enable them to focus on specific areas of the vehicle yielding a more successful initial search. Practical aspects of how to search a vehicle more thoroughly, when to apply for a search warrant, video- graphic and photo- graphic techniques for courtroom testimony and personal record keeping are discussed. The law enforcement officer will also learn about identifying and handling found items for print evidence.

Cop Shot - The Aftermath of Being Shot In the Line of Duty - Global Police Solutions

This course will help the law enforcement officer understand how police officers have survived being shot in the line of duty; the aftermath of the critical incident; and the physical, emotional and psychological effects on the officer. An overview of a U.S Department of Justice Report will be presented about officer ambush survivability, the environmental and incident dynamics, and the aftermath of surprise attacks against law enforcement officers. Response to an officer down call, law enforcement traumatic stress, mental health wellness strategies and wounded officer peer support groups will be discussed. This training includes a police documentary series that features wounded police officers describing what it feels like to be shot in the line of duty, the aftermath of their critical incidents, and post-incident lessons learned. A discussion with a wounded officer is included in the presentation.

Counterdrug Investigations Course (CDIC)

The CDIC is a 5-day classroom course designed to train civilian drug law enforcement agencies in subjects related to counterdrug/drug interdiction actions to include: counterdrug investigations and operations techniques and methods, drug identification and testing, undercover operations, and drug demand reduction programs. The CDIC is taught by military and civilian instructors from the US Army Military Police School (USAMPS), based at Ft. Leonard-Wood, MO. USAMPS has been providing top-quality training to law enforcement agencies for many years, and their instructors bring a wealth of civilian and military law enforcement to them. The USAMPS team deploys to the agency's location and conducts the training on-site.

Counterdrug Narco-Terrorism Personal Protection Course2

The program is taught by the US Army Military Police School through Operation Alliance. There is no cost for this training and seats are assigned on a first come- first served basis. The program provides training in Executive and Witness Protection Services. Emphasis will be placed upon protection of public officials, witnesses against drug offenders, and others threatened in a narco-terrorism environment. Students will need to supply a motor vehicle for motorcade operations and evasive driving techniques. Course Topics: • Special Weapons and Equipment • Unarmed Self-defense • Walking Formations • Mounted/Dismounted Formations • Attack Recognition • Surveillance Detection and • Dignitary/ Witness Protection.

Crime Scene Photography

This course is designed to teach new and experienced crime scene investigators various tools needed for photography including: crime scenes, the use of alternate light sources, low light photography, marco-photography and surveillance photography. Legal aspects of digital photography are also presented and discussed. Officer Phillip Sanfilippo of Miami Dade PD and Det. Ian Finnimore of the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office will instruct. The course will be given at Stockton State College in Galloway Twp., NJ.

Crime Scene Processing

This course is designed to provide the student with an understanding of crime scene preservation and the role of forensic science in law enforcement. The student will also learn the concepts and procedures of crime scene photography. Topics will include: introduction to Forensic Science; crime scene photography (to include both film and digital); source and relevance of serological fluids and trace evidence; locating latent fingerprints and the various technique utilized in processing and lifting found latents; locating and processing of impression evidence; and crime scene sketching. Students should bring their work cameras.
