Donation of Meadowview Veterans Wing Beds - May 17

Atlantic County Executive Dennis Levinson and the Meadowview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center will recognize VFW Post 8098 Auxiliary and community members who have contributed to the purchase of 20 new beds to date for the Veterans Wing at Meadowview on Wednesday, May 17 at 3 PM in the outside Garden Courtyard, 235 Dolphin Avenue, Northfield.

In December 2018, Meadowview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center received federal approval to provide medical services to veterans and opened a designated veterans wing that could accommodate 30 veterans.

VFW Post 8098 Commander John Rush was a strong advocate for providing veterans with access to local care without having to travel to Philadelphia or Wilmington to receive services covered by the Veterans Administration. He sadly died in May 2018, several months before seeing his dream come to fruition.

His wife, Ellen, of the VFW Post 8098 Auxiliary, made a promise to honor John’s memory by fulfilling his goal to provide 30 new beds for the Veterans’ Wing at Meadowview. The first 10 beds were delivered last year. Ten additional beds have now been donated.
