Effective January 22, 2016, a state of emergency is in effect throughout the State of New Jersey in preparation for Winter Storm Jonas, which threatens to impact our area with heavy snow, mixed precipitation, strong winds and freezing temperatures that may result in hazardous travel conditions, downed trees and wires, power outages and river, stream and coastal flooding.
While travel on roadways is not recommended, there is no travel ban in effect at this time.
Residents who require assistance should contact their local office of emergency management. Contact numbers are provided on www.ReadyAtlantic.org and in the Verizon phone book.
The state of emergency will remain in effect until further notice to allow officials to employ resources and assets necessary to prepare for and respond to this severe winter storm.
