Local Career Center Now Offers Services to Area Youth

The Cape May County One Stop Career Center in Rio Grande is now offering youth ages 14 -21 free education and employment services as well as referrals to area social services organizations.

The center provides basic services to youth who need help finding a job, attaining their GED (General Equivalency Diploma) or continuing their education. The services include access to job listings, resume writing, GED test preparation classes, workshops and seminars, referrals to support services and a computer lab. In addition many youth are eligible for more intensive services such as career assessment and testing, job training and job placement. Funding for these services is provided by the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development under the Workforce Investment Act of 1998 (WIA) and coordinated locally through the Atlantic Cape May Workforce Investment Board (WIB).

Participating youth may also utilize a resource center with “how to” books, classifieds from regional newspapers, and fax machines and telephones for job search activities.

The center is located at 1304 Route 47 South in Rio Grande and is open Mondays through Fridays, 8:30 am through 4:30 pm. Basic services are provided to the youth at no cost.
