William Paullin Nominated as Atlantic County Library Director

Atlantic County Executive Dennis Levinson has nominated William D. Paullin as Director of the Atlantic County Library System. Paullin has been serving as Acting Director for several months following the retirement of Alyce Bowers. As Director, Paullin will have full responsibility for the ongoing supervision of the library system's nine branch libraries and more than 100 employees.

Levinson said he is confident the library system will continue to serve as the county's primary information center under Paullin's direction. "Bill has served as our Assistant Director for more than 15 years and has the education and experience required for this important position. He is well respected by his staff and has demonstrated good leadership and responsibility. I look forward to working with him in this new capacity."

Paullin joined Atlantic County government in 1981 as a Principal Librarian and Head of Reference at the Mays Landing library branch. He was named Assistant Library Director in 1985. Prior to joining the county, Paullin served as a Government Liaison Librarian for the Camden County Library System and as a Government Documents Clerk for Drexel University in Philadelphia, from which he earned a Masters in Library Science in 1978. He received his Bachelor's degree in 1971 from St. Joseph's University, Philadelphia. Paullin is a member of several professional organizations including the New Jersey Library Association and the American Library Association.

Paullin's appointment will require the advice and consent of the Atlantic County Board of Freeholders.
