Personal Preparedness (DRT Module 2)

This is (Level 1) Module 2 for individuals participating in the Disaster Response Team Training. This module helps prepare the disaster worker before an emergency strikes. It outlines information needed for the disaster response team member to take before a disaster strikes. This will enable them to ensure that their familes and homes are taken care of while they are responding as part of the team. This training is open to all to better prepare themselves and families.

Personal Safety for Disaster Mental Health Responders

A dynamic skill building program for disaster mental health workers who are likely to encounter strong emotional reactions during the delivery of post-disaster psychosocial support services. Threats to safety and health naturally bring out a range of intense emotional reactions and behavioral changes in individuals and communities. Some of the behavioral reactions, such as acute fear, anxiety, anger or rage can disrupt the delivery of services and may post a threat to the safety of the disaster mental health responder. Objective • Participants will be able to describe the precipitants and triggers of angry, abusive and potentially aggressive behavior in disaster survivors.

Phone Bank Training- “Working with the Public: Delivering Your Message in a Crisis”

When a disaster occurs or looms you will learn how to react towards people calling a call center during a crisis, understand how they may feel and how communicating to them in a crisis is different. In addition, you will learn how different phone systems work, how to transfer calls and how to deliver messages especially for tricky calls and angry callers.

Pictometry- Advanced Training

This course is designed for individuals with a working knowledge of Electronic Field Study. It builds upon the basic functionality of ESF and demonstrates advanced applications such as integration of GIS data, advanced searches, GIS data development utilizing ESF, advance graphics features, etc.

Pictometry- End User Training

This program is designed to provide new users in Pictometry to navigate and utilize the basic functions of Electronic Field Study. It will review the process of how to create, manipulate and save workspaces as well as demonstrate the various tools available to the EFS user.

Point of Distribution (POD) Operations

Points of Distribution are centralized locations where the public picks up life sustaining commodities following a disaster or emergency. This FEMA program will review the key elements of POD operations including selecting a site, setup, staffing, equipment and operations. It will conclude with a POD set up exercise.
