Patrol Narcotics Investigation

This 2 day training is specifically for patrol personnel who are in uniform in marked vehicles. The training covers everything an officer needs to know in order to start making narcotics arrests. This is NOT just awareness training; this is an operations level course. Several specific techniques are discussed and demonstrated in detail, which the officer can begin to use on the street immediately. This course focuses on staying within the boundaries of New Jersey search and seizure regulations. The instructor has developed this class utilizing everything he has learned over the last ten years of service, nine of which have been while utilizing a patrol vehicle video / audio recording system. The use of a video system is encouraged to protect the officers from false accusation as well as case evidence. *Physical and Psychological aspects of addiction and how to use the knowledge for enforcement purposes *The business of narcotics distribution and how it relates to street level enforcement *How to determine the best roadways to patrol *How to determine which vehicles to stop *Pre-stop observations / developing reasonable articulable suspicion *How to run a traffic / interdiction stop *Street level interview techniques.

Patrol Negotiations - Global Police Solutions

This course is designed to ensure a quality presentation of street level negotiation skills training for the road officer, corrections officer or supervisors, in order for them to bring about a peaceful resolution to the current call for service or corrections incident. This course is designed to teach the basic skills, techniques and concepts required of patrol or corrections officers, with an emphasis on communication and active listening. Topics Include: • Introduction to Street Negotiations • “The First Few Minutes” • Essential Communication Skills • Active Listening Skills • Identifying the Emotional Factor • Theories of Motivation-Psychology • Body Language, Micro Expressions, Para-Linguistic Cues • Student Exercises INSTRUCTIONAL GOAL: To provide the patrol officer/deputy, corrections officer and supervisors with the skills, techniques and basic concepts needed to bring about a peaceful resolution to calls for service involving agitated or potentially violent subjects. The officer/deputy/CO/supervisor, will learn the importance of identifying and interpreting an individual’s body language as well as other indicators that give away a subjects pending actions, as well as truthfulness. Pedestrian/Bicycle Crash Investigation

The N.J. Division of Highway Traffic Safety is pleased to present our crash investigation course schedules for fiscal year 2016. Our highly qualified instructors will be teaching the New Jersey based Kean University courses Basic Crash Investigation and Advanced Crash Investigation. The Vehicle Dynamics curriculum, offered as a stand alone course in the past, is now part of the Advanced Crash Investigation course. Taught by members of the Institute of Police Technology and Management, Collision Reconstruction along with an array of other Specialty Courses will be offered this year as well. The coordinators for the Crash Investigation Training Program are SGT Jay Wolf (NJSP) 609-633-9198, and SGT Joan Bloom (NJSP) 609-633-9306. As in the past all courses are funded through a grant maintained by the Division of Highway Traffic Safety and there is no charge or fees to students. It should again be noted that there is a significant amount of algebra in all courses. It is suggested that those with weak algebra skills consider refreshing their math abilities prior to enrollment. A scientific calculator is needed for all classes. Please note that the Division of Highway Traffic Safety does not enroll students. You must call the numbers listed for each class or enroll online at the respective academy website. This is a Specialty Course offered by the NJ Division of Highway Traffic Safety (DHTS). As a pre-requisite for this course, all students must have already taken Crash Investigation II. Personal Radiation Detector Class

This course is designed to train law enforcement and public safety officers to employ department-procured and issued personal radiation detectors (PRD's) within the bounds of the jurisdiction/agency operational environment, including local instruments, procedures, and legal considerations. This course provides training and extensive hands-on practice with real radioactive materials so the personnel employing a PRD in detection and interdiction missions with be able to: 1) Detect and locate the presence of radiation and or radiological material. 2) After receiving an alarm, identify and distinguish between false alarms due to; background radiation, legitimate causes, illicit radiological/nuclear material. 3) Upon detecting, locating and assessing the alarm, measure the approximate radiation level that generated the alarm. 4) Use radiological/nuclear material recognition factors to assist in the assessing the situation. 5) Upon discovering the illicit use of radiological/nuclear material, initiate organizational protocols to ensure the health and safety of responders and the public. Notice: Live Radiological Materials (RAM) will be utilized and stored during the course. The RAM is low level and following all safe guards, posses no health hazard to anyone involved. Physical Conditioning Instructor Course

This 40 hour, Police Training Commission accredited course prepares an officer to gain certification as a physical training instructor. Students will learn the implementation of PTC Physical Conditioning Program. Instructional topics include fitness levels, physical fitness assessments, exercise physiology, substance abuse, diet and nutrition and more. Course is limited to 20 students. **We need 10 registrants to have this class**   Fee is $400 for out-of-county agencies

Police Canine Legal Update and Opinions Seminar

The Atlantic County Police Training Center will be hosting this one day seminar in conjunction with the Egg Harbor Township Police Department.
