Mixed Martial Arts Defensive Tactics

This course will include but not be limited to: *Arrest techniques *Stance and movement with base and balance *Defensive and offensive maneuvers to use while using hands, arms and feet to block *Take down techniques to thwart popular ground fighting moves *Edged weapon control and disarm techniques The drills in this course are rigorous; participants should be in good physical condition. Recommended for Defensive Tactic Instructors and Acert/Swat members Lead Instructor: Jose Tabora- Owner and operator of the Bullpen Vale Tudo in Egg Harbor Township, NJ. He is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Blackbelt under Robson Moura and has been training for 20+ years. Jose has been learning and teaching Muay Thai for 11 years under Sakasem "The Punisher" Kanthawong. Jose is a certified Defensive Tactics & Physical Fitness Instructor, by the NJ Police Training Commission Recommended Equipment: P/T gear with Duty Belt. Water Bottles and carbohydrates are highly recommended. Muay Thai Class- Hand wraps and boxing gloves. The training center will supply if needed. Monadnock Expandable Baton- Advanced Course

This one day program is designed to train officers in the proper use of the expandable or straight baton. The course covers patterns of movement, blocks, strikes, baton retention, control and takedown techniques. Monadnock certification is valid for one year. This is a hands on course and all participants must demonstrate an acceptable level of proficiency. Written and practical exams will be given at the conclusion of the training. Students should be in good condition and free of any physical limitations. Participants will need their complete duty belt including impact tool and holder.

New Jersey Laws of Arrest, Search & Seizure, Case Law Review & Update

Created and presented by Larry E. Holtz, Esq., this two-day program will update patrol officers, detectives/investigators, supervisors, police trainers, state troopers, and sheriff's officers in the recent developments and changes in the laws of arrest, investigative detentions (with a special focus on "stop & frisk" and motor vehicle stops), search warrants, and the exceptions to the written warrant requirement. The seminar will focus on the court decisions which have been recently handed down by the United States Supreme Court, the New Jersey Supreme Court, and the various panels of the Appellate Division. In addition to providing a comprehensive update of new material, the seminar will simultaneously serve as a comprehensive refresher for those persons who have not had an opportunity to attend an arrest, search and seizure review and update for a number of years. All attendees will receive a comprehensive written manual containing the new cases, rules and procedures presented.

New Jersey Legal Update- 2002 Title 2C/Title 39/Confession Law

Created and presented by Larry E. Holtz, Esq., this two-day, comprehensive Criminal, Motor Vehicle, and Confession Law Seminar is uniquely designed to update patrol officers, detectives/investigators, supervisors, police trainers and state troopers in the recent developments and changes in critical aspects of the criminal and motor vehicle laws, as well as the case law governing police interrogations, confessions and Miranda. Mr. Holtz provides an valuable update of the new and amended laws that have changed Title 2C, the Criminal Justice Code, Title 39, the Motor Vehicle Code, and have impacted the procedures related to the questioning of adult and juvenile suspects. In addition to teaching the new statutes, new case-law interpretations are presented in context so that the officer's application of the law is consistent with the interpretations set forth by our courts. In addition to providing a comprehensive update of new material, the seminar will simultaneously serve as a refresher for those persons who have not attended a statutory or confessional law update for a number of years. NJ Firearms Instructors Update (DCJ)

This program is designed to update all firearms instructors on a wide range of relevant topics. Discussions will include PTC and in-service firearms training issues. All courses of fire for PTC academies and in-service requalification will be reviewed. This workshop will explore non-toxic ammunition issues and the future of law enforcement firearms training in the state with an emphasis on consistency and on-duty relevance. Classroom only, no range activities. Who should attend: PTC range masters and firearms instructors, in-service supervising firearms instructors and firearms instructors, County prosecutors' personnel who maintain law enforcement requalification records. NJSACOP Frontline Supervision Program

The foundation for this course is the mandatory course project. Each participant will be required to identify a process, procedure, or operation that needs to be improved or currently does not exist within their respective Department. After choosing the topic, the participant must develop a new process, procedure, or approach that will be presented to their respective Chief of Police for consideration. There is sufficient time dedicated to towards the completion of a comprehensive project that will be presented orally to the class. NJTR1 Refresher Course

This free 4 hour course is presented by Rutgers and is intended keep officers current with the NJTR1, observed problems areas and changes. The goal of this training is to clarify some of the instructions for data field entry and share the answers to many of the Frequently Asked Questions that have been submitted to both the NJDOT and to law enforcement over the recent years. The NJTR-1 plays a critical role in providing crash data to a large cross-section of transportation safety professionals that rely upon its accuracy to make improvements to our roadways, secure grant funding for strategic enforcement and analyze trends for educational campaigns to improve safety. The course reviews common NJTR-1 errors for both passenger and commercial motor vehicle crashes and offers methods to improve the quality of data that safety colleagues rely on. Plan4Saftety software functions and the process of moving data from a crash report to computer will also be discussed.
