FLETC - Response to Active Shooter/Threat

The Federal Law Enforcement Training Center brings the most up-to-date course on responding to active threats to Atlantic County. This is a four day course with the fourth day focusing on tactical emergency treatment of the injured. The class is heavy on drills in a school setting. Two of the days will be 3-11 to allow use of a local school to practice tactics.

Front Line Supervision

This course is a three (3) day seminar designed for sergeants and lieutenants assigned as patrol supervisors. This course focuses on the operational aspects of first line supervision with special emphasis on those supervisory challenges one may expect to encounter. It fuses the actual practice of law enforcement with its theoretical foundation by integrating relevant New Jersey case law, court rules, statutory law and Attorney General guidelines.

Included are reviews of Supervisory Responsibilities, Investigative Stops/Detentions, Identification Issues, Municipal Ordinance Enforcement, Summons/Warrant Criteria, ATRA, Involuntary Commitment, Juveniles, Eviction, Jurisdiction, Selected Statutory and Common Law, Civil Liability, AG Guidelines, Ministerial/Discretionary Acts, Emergency Response Driving, Fire Scene Authority, Bounty Hunters, Bail Reform, Election Law, Civil Repossession, Sovereign Citizens, Workplace Harassment and Risk Management. This course is recommended for recently promoted first line supervisors; for veteran supervisors in search of substantive procedural review; and for those police officers anticipating promotion from existing promotional lists.

Fundamentals of Crime Prevention

The police officer will possess the knowledge and skills necessary to advise citizens on how best to protect themselves from criminal attack at home, at work, and in public places. The officer will obtain an understanding of Crime Analysis, Risk Management, and how to speak effectively before a group. The officer will have a working knowledge of locking devices, security lighting, intrusion detection systems, along with enhancing exterior doors and windows of a local resident or business. With this knowledge, the officer will be able to conduct a security survey of a home or business resulting in identifying specific physical security improvements and make the proper recommendations. Fee is $150 for out-of-county agenices.

Gender and Leadership Issues for Male Supervisors

This 8 hour class gives information to aid in gender-related issues. Topics to be discussed are the issues of gender communications problems, what women want from their leaders, stress and women, and suggestions for improving workplace relationships. The program is structured for public safety personnel and includes concerns for trainers and recruitment and retention issues. The program is taught by Public Safety Training, Inc.

Glock Armorer Course

This 8 hour course will certify students as a Glock Armorer. This course is also for officers who have to be re-certified as armorers for Glock. Completion of this training will enable the student to work on all Glock handguns. Do not bring any weapons to the course, all weapons are provided by Glock. Lunch is included. Grant Management - Grant Writing USA

If your agency receives or plans to receive government grants, this class is for you. Beginning and experienced grant managers and administrators from city, county and state agencies as well as nonprofits, K-12, colleges and universities are encouraged to attend.
