Field Training Officer

The Field Training Officer (FTO) Course is designed to train the potential FTO to mentor new officers. The program stresses five roles of the FTO, recruit training manuals, standard evaluation guidelines, the emulation process, daily observation reports, teaching techniques, liability, ethical issues, evaluator error, case law, remedial training procedures and a review of post-academy training.

Financial Crimes Investigation - Finding Hidden Assets

This one day course will benefit any POLICE OFFICER, DETECTIVE or PROSECUTOR assigned to investigate white collar and/or narcotics crimes. Discussion will center on the types of fraud and methods utilized to move currency and basic investigative measures to assist in identifying the flow of money and assets. Specific focus will be on the investigative measures (including what questions and interview techniques to utilize) in narcotics and/or white collar cases. Discussion on how to build a financial profile of your target(s) along with identifying assets of the individuals and organizations. Emphasis will include, but not be limited to the forfeiture of assets/seizures of properties; various investigative databases designed to identify fraudulent activity, proactive and reactive investigative measures and how to testify in Court in a financial investigation related to a narcotics and/or white collar crime. Firearms Applicant Investigative Guide Book Refresher

The State Regulatory Bureau has recently revised the "Firearms Applicant Investigative Guide Book". Members of the New Jersey State Police Firearms Investigation Unit will be presenting a four hour block of instruction on the revisions. This training is designed to familiarize your personnel with the proper use of the guide book. The guide explains in detail the process for investigating applicants for: Firearms Purchaser Identification Card, Permit to Purchase a Handgun and Duplicate Firearms Purchaser Identification Card. Additionally, the guide book details all of the forms and fees associated with processing applicants for firearms permits. It addresses frequently asked questions about New Jersey's firearms laws and introduces a mechanism for investigators to record their findings when investigating firearms permit applicants. Firearms Instructor Course

This five-day Police Training Commission approved class will teach the fundamentals of firearms, including range safety and requirements, weapons handling procedures and general range operation. The New Jersey Attorney General Guidelines pertaining to range instruction and the use of force will be included. This class is a PTC certified course which is required for certification to teach a PTC Basic Class. "Pre-Qualification will be held on the 1st day of class. Participants must attain a qualification score of 95% average over three (3) consecutive "runs" of HQC! (60 rd. course). If 95% average is not attained, participant will be dismissed from the class."

Needed equipment: - MANDATORY BODY ARMOR "2000 rounds of handgun ammo" - (no long gun or ammo needed) cardboard Q targets - cleaning kit - eye protection - hearing protection - ball cap - pen, pencil & permanent marker - paper to write on and take notes - highlighter - NO Rain Ponchos

Firearms Instructor Re-certification

Atlantic County Firearms Instructors who are certified under the Chief's guidelines must be re-certified every third year. This re-cert is done by The Peregrine Corporation at the Atlantic County Firearms Training Facility. Tuition is $150.00 per student. Please make Checks Payable to: "Treasure, County of Atlantic" FAX registration forms to Range at 609-926-5274 Registration is through the Police Training Center. Please follow normal registration procedures. (ie. faxing a registration form to the training center) Confirmation of registration is available upon request Students are to bring: - Handgun w/ 3 magazines - Duty rig w/ holster and magazine pouch - Handcuffs w/ holder - Working flashlight (fully charged) - Ear Protection - Eye Protection (wraparound or side-panels REQUIRED - sunglasses are not adequate) - Baseball cap w/ brim - Writing implement (pen or pencil) - Issued shoulder weapon w/ sling (sling required) and 3 magazines if SMG, carbine or patrol rifle - 500 rounds of handgun ammo - 200 rounds ammo for SMG, carbine or patrol rifle (assault rifle) - 20 rounds buckshot (regardless of whether or not they bring a shotgun) - Plus 10 rounds of slugs and 10 rounds buckshot for NJ shotgun qualification course, if they will be qualifying w/ the shotgun rather than a different shoulder weapon.

Firearms Trafficking Investigations

This 3 day course is designed to advance the Law Enforcement Criminal Investigator with investigative and enforcement methods in the pursuit of preventing the proliferation of firearms to the criminal network. Armed violent crime perpetrated by convicted felons or other prohibited persons happens when firearms can be obtained by an illicit source.
