Beginning Saturday, March 25 there will be plenty of action on the water as Atlantic County’s Lake Lenape Park East in Mays Landing hosts a series of high school rowing competitions each Saturday through April 15 and concludes with the May 14 championships. The Atlantic County Rowing Association will sponsor three Lake Lenape Sprints for boys and girls on March 25, April 1 and April 8 followed by an April 15 invitational regatta sponsored by St. Augustine Prep that features some of the best boys high school crews in the tri-state area.
All races will run north to south and should provide excellent viewing. Lake Lenape will be closed to all other boating during these events which are scheduled to occur 10 AM - 2 PM, approximately. The High School Rowing Championships will be held on Sunday, May 14. This annual Mother’s Day event has become a hugely popular tradition with hundreds of spectators supporting their favorite schools. This is an all-day event that will require the full closure of the lake to all other activities that day.
