County Settles on EHT Open Space Property on Earth Day

County Executive Dennis Levinson announced today that the county has reached settlement on a 310-acre property in Egg Harbor Township that will be added to the county's open space land holdings.

Levinson noted that the timing of this settlement was particularly satisfying. "Over the past two years my administration's policy has been to maximize the purchase of Open Space, particularly within the county's growth areas which have been hard hit as a result of state regulations. How fitting it is to settle on this 310-acre parcel in Egg Harbor Township on Earth Day," he said.

The $2.6 million property located on Pine Avenue was purchased with a combination of funds from the state's Green Acres program and the county's Open Space Trust Fund. An additional donation of $132,000 was contributed by the property's previous owners.

According to Levinson, now that the county has settled on this property, it plans to apply for a $1 million reimbursement grant through the Federal Land and Water Conservation Trust Fund. If approved, the final cost to the county for this purchase will be $174,000.
