Public tours of the Atlantic County Animal Shelter will be offered on Saturday, May 11 from 12 noon to 4 PM as part of an Open House celebration, announced County Executive Dennis Levinson. The shelter is located at 240 Old Turnpike Road in Pleasantville.
"The Animal Shelter provides many useful services," stated Levinson, "and this Open House is a fun way to help make people more familiar with that."
In addition to touring the facility, participants will have opportunities to tour South Jersey Animal Control vehicles and observe dog obedience demonstrations and therapy dogs provided by the Pinelands K9 Club. The Pleasantville Police Department will demonstrate the use of narcotic dogs and patrol dogs. Free identification tags will be available for pet owners and Avid Chip identification will be provided for a fee. Kids will have several activities to choose from such as face painting, button making and creating balloon animals.
Levinson noted that educational materials will also be available and refreshments will be provided.
