The music of John Philip Sousa will be featured at a free concert at Oscar McClinton Waterfront Park, New Hampshire Avenue, Atlantic City, on Sunday, September 8 from 7:30 to 9:30 PM. The concert was originally scheduled for Labor Day but was rescheduled due to the weather.
A 15-piece orchestra headed by Art Blatt will perform patriotic favorites including some music written by Sousa who appeared in Atlantic City in the early 20th century. To add to the fun, there will be a special "appearance" by John Philip Sousa and his good friend, Dr. Jonathon Pitney, the founder of Atlantic City. Those who plan to attend should bring their own chairs or blankets for seating.
