"Leave the driving to us," declared County Executive Dennis Levinson as he announced a new, free shuttle service for the western municipalities of Hammonton, Folsom, Buena Boro and Buena Vista Township known as the "western connector."
According to Levinson, this new service provides residents and commuters with convenient access to public transportation and New Jersey Transit bus and rail service. "It is particularly valuable to those who may be mobility dependent and without access to public transportation," he added.
The western connector shuttle bus provides riders with access to New Jersey Transit bus route 553, from Atlantic City to Vineland, and route 554, from Atlantic City to Lindenwold, as well as the Hammonton rail station that provides service to Atlantic City and Philadelphia's 30th Street train station.
Funding for the shuttle was provided by the state and supplemented by the county with monies from the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families. The county received assistance in developing and marketing the routes from Cross County Connection, a private transportation planner, in addition to input from the community.
