Mosquito Ground Sprays Scheduled for Brigantine and Hammonton
The Atlantic County Office of Mosquito Control has scheduled ground sprays for portions of Brigantine and Hammonton as part of the county’s ongoing efforts to control adult mosquitoes and reduce the spread of mosquito-borne illness.
The Brigantine ground spray application will take place on Tuesday evening, September 14, between 7:30 PM and 10:30 PM, weather permitting.
The area to be treated is bounded by a line that follows 12th Street N., E. Shore Drive, Traverse Place, E. Shore Drive, Golf Course Drive, N. Shore Drive, W. Shore Drive, Lafayette Boulevard, W. Shore Drive, Risley Road, Bayshore Avenue, 6th Street S., W. Beach Avenue and E. Beach Avenue.
The Hammonton ground spray applications will take place on Wednesday morning, September 15, between 4:30 AM and 6:30 AM, weather permitting.
The first area to be treated is bounded by North Chew Road, North 1st Road, Orchard Street SW, Railroad Avenue and 13th Street. The second area to be treated is bounded by Moss Mill Road, Lakeview Drive, Lakeshore Drive, Lakeview Drive, Rt. 30 and Atlantic County Rt. 640.
All ground sprays will be conducted using Zenivex, the trade name for etofenprox, applied as an ultra-low volume aerosol.
The Environmental Protection Agency does not require people to relocate or take special precautions during mosquito control spraying. The public may choose to avoid or minimize exposure by staying indoors during application; keeping windows shut; window fans and air conditioning off or set to circulate indoor air; keeping children’s toys indoors; keeping pets and their food, water dishes and toys indoors.

Mosquito Control officials remind residents of the importance of removing standing water from their properties and cleaning their gutters to eliminate potential mosquito breeding grounds.
