Video Game Addiction and Gambling Gimmicks

Does someone in your family spend a lot of time video gaming? Is it starting to interfere with their life? Are they missing school or work because they were up late trying to get to the next level? Is getting to the next level becoming an expense or causing grades to slip?

Learn more about video game addiction and its consequences on Monday, November 18 at 1 PM at the Hammonton Family Success Center at 310 Bellevue Avenue, Hammonton.

Video gaming is an addiction that many people recognize.  Learn the similarities of video game addiction and gambling behaviors. The presentation will identify mechanisms used in video games that are associated with gambling.

Presenter Ken Litwak is a Problem Gambling Prevention Specialist with the Council on Compulsive Gambling of NJ and a member of the Atlantic County Children’s Inter-Agency Coordinating Council (CIACC) Speaker’s Bureau.

The speaker’s bureau is comprised of subject matter specialists who are available to lead discussions of timely topics affecting young people. These may include:  Dangers of Sexting, Marijuana and Adolescent Brain Changes, Trauma and Children, and Bullying, among others. Presentations are free and available for community, social, civic or faith groups. CIACC members represent agencies and programs that deliver mental health, substance use and developmental disability services in Atlantic County.
