In recognition of National Voter Registration Day on Tuesday, September 24, Atlantic County Superintendent of Elections & Commissioner of Registration, Maureen Bugdon, is encouraging youth age 17 years and older to register to vote with an outreach initiative for Atlantic County public high schools.
Informational flyers and voter registration forms will be distributed to students with the cooperation of the Atlantic County Superintendent of Schools Office. County election officials and representatives of the League of Women Voters will be available to provide additional assistance upon request.
“We are pleased to assist in promoting voter registration among our youth,” stated Robert Bumpus, Executive County Superintendent of Schools for Atlantic County.
The offices of the Superintendent of Elections will provide extended hours in observance of National Voter Registration Day and will be open 8 AM to 6 PM at 1333 Atlantic Avenue, Atlantic City and at 5920 Main Street in Mays Landing.
“In addition to encouraging young voters to register to exercise their right to vote, this is also an opportunity for individuals of all ages to register,” said Budgon. “Enfranchising voters through voter outreach and education is incredibly important. Your vote really is your voice, and it can’t be heard unless you take the essential step of registering. Through outreach events like this, we try to make that step simple, efficient and fun!”
