Atlantic County Libraries Waive Fees and Provide Resources during Government Shutdown

Federal employees and contractors currently affected by the federal government shutdown are invited to take advantage of the resources available at the Atlantic County Library System’s nine branches including books, movies, music and access to public computers.

“We have never experienced a government shutdown of this duration with no apparent end in sight,” stated County Executive Dennis Levinson. “We have great empathy for the individuals and families who have been impacted. Our county libraries offer tremendous programs and services for all ages but are even more appreciated at times like this when they may help ease some stress and add some enjoyment.”

The library system is waiving all fees (past and present) during this time for federal employees and contractors with proper work identification. It is also providing a list of community resources to help support them during this difficult time. It is available on the library website, www.atlanticlibrary.org, and includes many discounts and service-fee waivers from businesses and charity organizations as well as some financial assistance programs.

The Atlantic County Library System includes branches in Brigantine, Egg Harbor City, Egg Harbor Township, Galloway Township, Hammonton, Mays Landing, Pleasantville, Somers Point and Ventnor. For addresses and hours visit www.atlanticlibrary.org.
