Atlantic County Public Health Promotes Vaccination Awareness

Vaccines are as important to your health as diet and exercise. From birth through adulthood, vaccinations provide protection against many diseases and infections, yet vaccine-preventable infections continue to kill more individuals each year than breast cancer, HIV/AIDS or traffic accidents.

The Atlantic County Division of Public Health provides vaccinations for children without insurance or those who have NJ Family Care A and adult vaccinations for residents without insurance or whose insurance does not cover immunizations. Appointments are necessary for both child and adult vaccinations and can be made by calling (609) 645-7700, ext. 4500.

Vaccination schedules for children and adults are available on the county web site at: www.aclink.org/publichealth.

“Vaccines are one of the safest and easiest ways to provide protection for yourself and your family,” noted Atlantic County Public Health Officer Patricia Diamond. “Vaccine-preventable diseases can be deadly if they spread to the very young or very old who are generally at greater risk.”

Children who previously received vaccinations from Brighton Pediatrics in Atlantic City, which will close its practice as of September 1, may seek assistance at one of several Federally Qualified Health Centers in Atlantic County. These centers offer services for uninsured and underinsured family members with locations in Atlantic City, Pleasantville, Egg Harbor Township and Hammonton.
