New Signal To Be Activated at EHT Intersection

County and municipal officials will be joined by state Department of Transportation representatives to activate a new traffic signal at the redesigned intersection of English Creek and West Jersey Avenues in Egg Harbor Township at 11 AM on Tuesday, July 30, 2002.

The county awarded a $1.67 million contract last December for intersection improvements that included widening the roadway, signalizing the intersection, creating left turn lanes and installing a new drainage system.

County Executive Dennis Levinson said he is confident that the reconstruction of this intersection will improve the flow of traffic through the area in addition to improving the safety of motorists and pedestrians.

"These improvements were necessary to contend with the rapid growth and development of Egg Harbor Township and the increasing volume of traffic along these roadways," stated Levinson.

The English Creek-West Jersey intersection is also the location of the future home of the Saint Katherine Drexel Church. The church complex will include a 1,000 seat parish and a 20,000 square foot multipurpose room.
