Atlantic County Jail Earns 100% Compliance in Inspection and Reaccreditation Reviews

In its most recent annual inspection, the Atlantic County Justice Facility earned 100 percent compliance with state standards for adult county correctional facilities. This is the third consecutive year it has met full compliance with no findings of non-compliance.

The inspection was conducted over a five-day period, January 30-February 3, 2017. It included a thorough review of more than 20 categories including personnel, training and staff development, emergency procedures, records, sanitation, food service, inmate services, health services, disciplinary procedures, security and control, visitation, admissions, and access to courts.

The Atlantic County Justice Facility in cooperation with its medical vendor, Centers for Family Guidance (CFG), also earned reaccreditation from the National Commission on Correctional Health Care which conducts a two-day on-site inspection every three years.

Accreditation requires 100 percent compliance with 34 essential standards and 85 percent compliance with 37 additional standards. The Justice Facility was rated 100 percent in both areas.

“The inspection and reaccreditation validate the quality of our jail facility and those responsible for its administration and operation,” stated County Executive Dennis Levinson. “I commend Warden Cohen and her staff for their outstanding performance. Their job is certainly not easy, but one that is extremely important. I hope this brings them the satisfaction of knowing their efforts are appreciated.”

The Atlantic County Justice Facility is located at 5060 Atlantic Avenue in Mays Landing. It houses male and female inmates who are pretrial, presentenced, county-sentenced, and occasionally state-sentenced and awaiting transfer or state inmates contracted to the county facility.
