Atlantic County Prepares for Significant Snowfall

Atlantic County public work crews will begin resalting county roadways as snow from Winter Storm Helena begins to cover roadways and is expected to continue throughout the day with accumulations between 5-8 inches with highest amounts along the coast.

Motorists are advised to exercise caution. Snow may be heavy at times throughout the day with poor visibility making driving more hazardous.Wind gusts of 30 mph are possible along the coast.

Motorists are reminded to stay well behind salt trucks and snow plows. And when shoveling your driveways, place snow on the "down" street side, to the left of the driveway when facing it from the street.

Those in need of assistance during the storm should contact their local office of emergency management. Contacts numbers are available on www.ReadyAtlantic.org, the county’s emergency information and resource web site, and in the phone book.

Residents are advised to continue to monitor weather forecasts, media outlets and county web sites for updates as well as to heed the recommendations of local emergency management officials.
