Storm Update - June 24

Atlantic County government offices are open for business following last evening’s severe storms that caused power outages throughout the area and downed trees and wires on several roadways.

The only county facility that is currently closed is the Hammonton senior center located at 310 Bellevue Avenue. Residents 60 years and older who would normally attend the center are being directed to the Buena senior center at 600 Central Avenue. The center will be open until 1:30 PM today. Those in need of transportation to the site may call (609) 645-5910.

The Hammonton branch of the Atlantic County Library System closed early last evening due to the storm but is reopen this morning as are all 10 county library branches.

County public work crews were out last evening through midnight to help clear roadways of downed trees and wires. As of 9 AM this morning all county roadways were open but motorists are advised to exercise caution.

According to the Atlantic City Electric outage map power outages are still impacting the western end of the county, particularly in Hammonton, Egg Harbor City and Mullica.
