An adult workplace literacy lab has been added to the many services available at the Atlantic County One Stop Career Center in Atlantic City located at 1433 Bacharach Boulevard.
The purpose of the literacy lab is to help participants sustain the educational levels necessary to secure meaningful employment by increasing their reading, math, computer, and communication skills to enter the workplace or advance to further training. Self-paced tutorials in Adult Basic Education (ABE), General Education Development Test Preparation (GED), English as a Second Language (ESL) and Workplace Literacy classes are offered.
“The aim of the program is to encourage time management skills, individual responsibility and team building,” states Larry Haas, Manager of the Atlantic County One Stop Career Center, Atlantic City Office.” By enhancing participant’s workplace literacy skills, we increase their chances for employment and career advancement.”
To supplement the self-paced academics offered at the literacy lab, instructors are on site to provide additional assistance both on an individual basis and in a cooperative learning environment.
The lab will operate Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. For additional information, call (609) 441-3294.
The Atlantic City Literacy Lab is provided by a grant from the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development and funded locally through the Literacy Committee of the Atlantic Cape May Workforce Investment Board.
