Improvements Coming for Western County Roadways

Atlantic County Executive Dennis Levinson has announced the award of two contracts for road improvements in the western section of the county as part of the county's ongoing efforts to address its transportation infrastructure.

A contract for $976,386 was awarded to Asphalt Paving Systems of Hammonton for the reconstruction of approximately two miles of Weymouth-Malaga Road between Route 40 in Buena Borough and Route 54 in Buena Vista Township. A second contract was awarded to A.E. Stone of Egg Harbor Township in the amount of $657,122.50 for the resurfacing of nearly three miles of Tuckahoe Road, from 20th Avenue in Buena Vista Township to Cape May Avenue in Weymouth Township.

"These two well-traveled roadways represent major arteries within our county," stated Levinson. "It is our responsibility to continue to make these types of improvements to ensure the safety of our residents and visitors."

Both projects are expected to begin later this month and be completed in September, 2003.
