For the third consecutive year, Atlantic County government has received a clean, independent annual audit, announced County Executive Dennis Levinson, following the certification of the year 2001 audit of the county's financial operations.
"Our residents and taxpayers can be assured that their county government is fiscally sound," stated Levinson. "Our tax rate is stable and the current rate is one of the lowest in the last 20 years. I am very pleased and proud of this accomplishment and thank all the county employees who helped to make this happen."
The county received its 2001 annual audit from Alliance of Governmental Auditors, who conducted the audit over a 6-8 week period. A synopsis and summary of the 2001 audit was published in The Press of Atlantic City on June 11, 2002. The audit has been reviewed and certified by all members of the Atlantic County Board of Freeholders and the County Executive in accordance with the requirements of the Local Finance Board.
