During the month of June, residents may donate new and used children’s and adult books as a part of a “Give Your Book a New Life” campaign being sponsored by the Literacy Committee of the Atlantic Cape May Workforce Investment Board (WIB) to promote adult literacy and celebrate National Literacy Day, July 2, 2003.
The event kicked-off at a ceremony held Monday, June 2, 2003 at the Social Security Administration Building in Egg Harbor Township. Peggy Quinn, Chair of the Literacy Committee of the Atlantic Cape May WIB stated “the collected books will be used to establish small libraries in the county One Stop Career Centers. It’s our hope that customers visiting the centers will enjoy the books and want to either keep, borrow or pass them on so others may know the benefits of literacy.”
Books may be donated at the following sites from now until June 23rd: Atlantic County Libraries in Brigantine, Egg Harbor Township, Galloway Township, Hammonton, Longport, Mays Landing, Pleasantville, Somers Point and Ventnor; the Atlantic County Office Building (1333 Atlantic Avenue, Atlantic City); Social Security Administration Building (1350 Doughty Road, Egg Harbor Township); and the Atlantic County Nutrition sites in Egg Harbor Township (3052 English Creek Avenue), Northfield (Dolphin Avenue) and Atlantic City (1102 Atlantic Avenue).
