The first of three information sessions included as part of a new walking program, "Step Out Atlantic County . . . Strides for Health and Vitality," will be held on Tuesday, May 27 from 5:30 to 6:30 PM at the Pleasantville Recreation Center, 400 W. Brighton Avenue.
Fitness coordinator Myriah McMahan will provide expert information on the benefits of walking and assist residents of all ages in attaining a healthy and fit lifestyle. McMahan will discuss designing a personal walking program, selecting appropriate walking gear and clothing, warming up, stretching and cooling down. She will also provide several nutrition tips. Participants will receive a logbook to track their progress as well as a health assessment guide.
The Step Out program is designed to promote walking as a safe and effective way to improve overall health and fitness. The program is sponsored by the Atlantic County Children and Families Initiative in collaboration with Rutgers Cooperative Extension.
