Local Agencies Offer Free Emergency Preparedness Presentations

Atlantic County residents will have an opportunity to receive the latest information regarding terrorism and learn the best ways to prepare for emergencies thanks to a new emergency preparedness presentation being offered to community organizations, civic groups and municipalities throughout the county. The Atlantic County Office of Emergency Preparedness, Division of Public Health and the American Red Cross - Atlantic/Cumberland Chapter have teamed up to provide the presentations as a community service.

As County Executive Dennis Levinson explained, "These collaborative presentations are a great community resource that can provide residents with reliable, first-hand information on how to prepare for emergencies. As we all now recognize, preparation is our best defense."

Each hour-long presentation will deliver accurate information specific to the local community and include the following topics:

· up-to-date information on bioterrorism; what the county is doing to prepare and how residents can keep their families safe
· where to look for accurate information during any emergency
· what local families need to know about creating crisis plans, assembling disaster kits and training for emergencies

Emergency preparedness presentations are currently scheduled as follows:

Wednesday, May 7 - 7 PM at the Atlantic County Library/Egg Harbor Township
Tuesday, June 3 - 7 PM at the Atlantic County Library/Galloway Township
Thursday, July 10 - 7 PM at the Atlantic County Library/Hammonton

To schedule a presentation for your group's next meeting or to get more information, call 609-646-8330.
