YouthWORKS Career Center opened its doors to area youth in December, 2002. Since its inception, the career center has provided educational, employment and referral services to more than 150 Atlantic and Cape May County youth ages 14 – 21.
“Center staff has been successful at finding jobs for youth and young adults, helping them return to school, get their GED and explore career opportunities,” states Michael Rhodes, President of Job Connection, a partner of the Atlantic Cape May One Stop System and operator of the YouthWORKS Career Center. “The number of youth served demonstrates that the center is a viable community resource and area youth are benefiting from the many programs offered.”
YouthWORKS is open Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The center offers job search activities, career awareness and mock interview seminars, computer labs, resume tutorials, self-paced academics, GED test preparation classes (16 +), job readiness training, character building, student achievement and work readiness workshops to all youth ages 14 – 21. In addition, the center provides referral services to assist youth with housing, family and substance abuse issues.
The center is located at 750 West Delilah Rd. in Pleasantville at the Atlantic Cape May Career Center’s Job Connection building. For additional information, please call 485-0052 ext. 186 or visit www.youthworks.info.
