Green and Hendricks to Receive Annual MLK Awards

Cynthia Warke Green, Acting Director of Child Federation of Atlantic City, and Rev. Milton L. Hendricks, Pastor of Faith Baptist Church in Pleasantville, will be honored for their significant service to the community at Atlantic County's 16th annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemorative Birthday Celebration on Friday, January 17 at 11 AM in the auditorium of the County Office Building, 1333 Atlantic Avenue, Atlantic City.

"Each year in Atlantic County we commemorate Dr. King's birthday with the selection of two individuals who uphold his principles through their compassion for others and their commitment to service," stated County Executive Dennis Levinson. "Cynthia Green and Rev. Hendricks are such individuals and are well deserving of this honor."

In addition to overseeing the operation of a weekly clinic, Ms. Green also contributes to our community as a member and past president of the Charity League of Atlantic County, a board member of the Children's Seashore House Auxiliary of Atlantic County and membership committee chairperson of the Miss America Organization's hostess committee. She is a past recipient of the Soroptimist Club of Atlantic City's "Women Helping Women" award and the Maxine Haneman award for outstanding service presented by the Children's Seashore Auxiliary.

Rev. Hendricks is an Atlantic City native who has served as Pastor of Faith Baptist Church for the past 24 years. Rev. Hendricks is currently serving his eleventh year as chairman of the Pleasantville Housing Authority and volunteers for the Pleasantville School District and the Ministers Home Detention Program. He is also a member of the Governor's Board for Success By Six programs and the Atlantic County Youth Services Commission in addition to serving on the board of directors for the Atlantic County United Way, the Atlantic County NCCJ and CARING Incorporated. Rev. Hendricks and his family were honored with the Family of the Year award in 1997 by Family Service Association of Atlantic County.

The keynote address will be provided by Reverend Reginald S. Floyd, Pastor of Allen African Methodist Episcopal Church, Atlantic City and an attorney in the law office of Youngblood, Corcoran, Lafferty, Hyberg & Waldman, Pleasantville.
