"Taikoza" will open the 2003 season of Kidshows, sponsored by the Atlantic County Office of Cultural and Heritage Affairs, on Saturday, January 18, 2003 at 2 PM in the Walter Edge Theatre on the Mays Landing campus of Atlantic Cape Community College. The performance will combine a collection of percussions including huge Japanese festival drums and traditional choreographed movement. Tickets are $3 and available at the door.
On February 15, the Shoestring Players will perform "Spell in the Well & Tales of Africa." The imaginative storytelling journey begins in Spain and travels to Siberia, Africa, America before finishing in Ghana. "Hoofing in America" will be presented on March 15 and demonstrate how American street tap dancing has been influenced by Irish, African, Jazz, Hip Hop and house rhythms. The Kidshows series concludes on April 12 with a performance by Theatreworks USA based on the award-winning PBS television series "Reading Rainbow."
Kidshows is a local arts development series designed to nurture creative imaginations and develop future audiences for the arts. Each show is less than an hour long and is complimented by suggestions for post performance activities and literature. All performances are at 2 PM in the Walter Edge Theatre.
