Atlantic County Adds More Open Space

Atlantic County made settlement on a strategic property on November 26 that will add another 103 acres of open space to the county's holdings in Egg Harbor Township, according to County Executive Dennis Levinson. The property is located on Pine Avenue in Egg Harbor Township, adjacent to the Thomas property of which 310 acres was previously purchased by the county as an open space acquisition.

The county acquired the 103-acre property from APW Foundation for $844,915 with funding from the Atlantic County Municipal Open Space Trust Fund and the state Green Acres program. With the addition of this property, the county has now acquired 413 acres of open space bordering one of the Pinelands-designated growth areas.

"Open space is a valuable commodity and one that is needed to help relieve the area's growing pains and protect our residents quality of life. Atlantic County will continue to aggressively pursue open space acquisitions to benefit our current and future residents," stated Levinson.
