Atlantic County Executive Dennis Levinson will introduce the "School Counts!" program to area business people and educators on Tuesday, September 17, 2002 at 8:30 AM at the Rams Head Inn, 9 West White Horse Pike, Absecon.
The School Counts! program is an initiative that encourages employers to use a school based certificate that documents student performance during high school. Since student performance in high school is a reliable indicator of how a student might perform in the workplace, a School Counts! certificate offers an employer some assurance of a student's reliability and dependability.
"I strongly encourage Atlantic County businesses and employers to register as a School Counts! employer," Levinson said. "This initiative is win-win. It gives students an incentive to do well in school and helps employers recruit better qualified entry level workers. As a former teacher, this program is very important to me and was one of my key priorities for this year."
The Atlantic County School Counts! program is a cooperative effort by the County of Atlantic, the Atlantic County Mainland Chamber of Commerce, Atlantic Cape Community College and the Atlantic Cape May Workforce Investment Board.
