Public Health Women’s Health Resources
The Division of Public Health offers free women’s health clinics to Atlantic County residents 18 and over. Services include a Pap Smear, Pelvic Exam, Breast Exam, Mammogram Referral, Blood Pressure, Cholesterol, Colorectal screening as well as Health Counseling.
For residents with no health insurance. If you have health insurance with high deductibles and/or low reimbursement payments. Clinics are held at the Stillwater Building at 201 South Shore Road in Northfield and at 310 Bellevue Avenue in Hammonton. Appointments are necessary.

Comprehensive services for the homeless and working poor. Emergency food, shelter, and clothing is provided to men, women, and families. Homeless prevention services for families including emergency food baskets and clothing.
Family Life Center - Program within the Rescue Mission facility specifically designed for mothers with children, providing them with a furnished bedroom, clothing and meals. Structure and discipline are introduced into the family's daily routine and children ages three to five attend the Mission's in-house preschool while older children attend local schools. The practical goals of the FLC are: (1) to provide emergency housing for homeless women with children; (2) to provide individualized clinical case management for each family temporarily residing at the Mission; (3) to refer low-income families to services to prevent homelessness; and (4) to help families find permanent housing.

Violence Intervention Program (VIP) - works to reduce the physical, psychological and emotional trauma and recurrence of domestic violence, sexual assault and incest experienced by victims and their families. Services include: a 24-hour hotline to assist with crisis intervention, emotional support, information about emergency shelter, counseling, legal advocacy and other community and social service resources, 24-hour emergency and protective housing in a confidential location, individual, family and/or group counseling, counseling for children 5-17 years of age who have experienced violence in the home, counseling for batterers to control anger and eliminate abusive behavior, legal advocacy, compassionate emotional support to sexual assault victims while using state-of-the-art evidence collection tools and techniques for use in prosecuting offenders, and free cellular phones pre-programmed to automatically dial "911" and/or ACWC's 24-hour hotline for domestic violence victims who are in imminent physical danger.
Child Care Network - promotes and enhances existing child care services and works to develop and increase the supply of quality and affordable child care in Atlantic County. Services include: assisting Work First New Jersey participants who are employed full-time or receiving TANF cash assistance with a child(ren) under 13 or a special needs child up to 19 to receive full-or part-time child care, a child care subsidy program for low-income parents who work or attend school full-time and have children under age 13 or a special needs child up to age 19, and the Child Care Resource and Referral line that distributes information about child care resources and services.Home To Work (HTW) - empowers displaced homemakers with the personal support, education and job training necessary to become independent and self-sufficient. Services include: career counseling, computer training, job readiness, job search, job placement assistance, resume writing, interviewing skills, and a clothes closet of quality business suits and other work attire and accessories.
WomenSource Training Institute - coordinates all of the agency's educational opportunities. Training includes: Child Development Associate Training (CDA) which assesses and credentials child care providers, and the "Educating To End Domestic Violence" Workshop.

Provides parenting skills and other services to teen mothers and pregnant women 18 years of age and under who are at risk of or have dropped out of school. Services include in-class alternative education, nursery, breakfast and lunch, and transportation to and from physician appointments. Program is 6 - 8 months long. Applicants must attend any Atlantic City public school.

AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center Women’s Health Services offers prenatal care to women who are uninsured or have Medicaid and reside in or around Atlantic County. The program offers medical care services including prenatal and postpartum visits. Staff develops and maintains a Plan of Care for each patient and provides nutritional, social, psychological assessments and counseling, as well as coordinates services for health education, home visits, and case coordination services. These services are offered in accordance with the HealthStart Comprehensive Maternity Care Services guidelines.

The RNS Mobile Mammography Van makes cancer detection equipment easily accessible to women in Atlantic, Cape May and southern Ocean County. This custom-designed van, one of only two such units in New Jersey, features the latest low-dose mammography equipment, and is accredited by the American College of Radiology and the FDA. All mammograms performed at AtlantiCare are run through the R2 ImageChecker, a computer that helps radiologists detect cancer at the earliest, most treatable stage.

Community based sites which serve children and families. Family Resource Counselors assess the needs of the family and suggest appropriate services. Services for adults include: individual and family counseling, substance abuse counseling, consumer credit counseling, and parenting classes. Services for children include: tutoring, mentoring, recreation, a Juvenile Diversion Program, and teen pregnancy prevention. Additional services include: mediation, C.E.A.S. (Temporary utility / rental assistance), family planning, employment services, Male Clinic, Community Health Law Project, W.I.C. (Women, infants & Children), dental referrals, Big Brothers / Big Sisters, Probation, Juvenile Intensive Supervision, and the Parents as Teachers program. Parents As Teachers provides a home educator to assist parents of young children to prepare their children for academic and social success.
